Farms

One farm in Minas Gerais, and the family who runs it.

We buy directly from Ivan Santana at Fazenda Jangada in Cabo Verde, Minas Gerais, Brazil.

Ivan and Fazenda Jangada

Ivan went to work in the coffee fields at eleven, alongside his mother, Zilda Goulart. Years later, he bought a farm of his own. When Zilda came to see it, she was moved: it was the same farm she had worked on when he was a boy, and he had not remembered. He and his family run Fazenda Jangada today.

In the Região Vulcânica

Cabo Verde is part of Sul de Minas and the coffee-growing territory known as Região Vulcânica, around Poços de Caldas.

Rows of coffee trees across rolling hills at sunset, with granite boulders in the foreground.

From Jangada to Canada

Garapa and Wineberry come from Fazenda Jangada and are roasted in Canada. Each is a distinct lot; the farm is what connects them.
